General Frequently Asked Questions
Have a question about your pet’s health or our services? Here are some common concerns we hear from pet owners. If you don’t see your question here, feel free to give us a call—we’re happy to help!

My pet hasn’t eaten for ___ days. Should I bring them in?
If your pet hasn’t eaten for more than 24 hours (cats) or 48 hours (dogs), it could indicate an underlying health issue. Loss of appetite can be caused by illness, dental problems, or even stress. It’s best to schedule an exam so we can determine the cause and provide appropriate care.
My cat is not using the litter box. Should I be concerned?
Yes. A sudden change in litter box habits can be a sign of urinary tract infections, kidney issues, stress, or other medical conditions. If your cat is avoiding the litter box, urinating outside of it, or straining, we recommend bringing them in for an evaluation.
My pet ate ____. Should I be worried?
If your pet has eaten a foreign object, toxic food, or medication, call us right away. Items like chocolate, grapes, onions, human medications, and household objects can be dangerous or even life-threatening. When in doubt, seek veterinary advice as soon as possible.
When should I start heartworm, flea, and tick prevention?
Heartworm, flea, and tick prevention should start as early as eight weeks old. Even indoor pets are at risk. We can recommend the best preventative plan for your pet’s needs.
Are you accepting new clients?
Yes! We welcome new clients and look forward to providing compassionate care for your pets and livestock. Call us at (641) 892-4651 to schedule an appointment.
